2010 Mushroom Conference Details:
The 2010 Mushroom Conference will
celebrate 25 years of gathering, enjoying,
and learning about mushrooms at
Breitenbush. Since that first gathering,
many important discoveries have been
made about the ecology, medicinal,
artistic and culinary uses of the fungi. Dr. Tom Odell will lead the sessions
of mushroom identification of specimens collected each day.
Chef Michael Blackwell will share with you mushroom cooking
techniques while leading the hands-on preparation of the
edible mushrooms gathered during the fieldtrips. Mushroom fiber artists Cathy Lennebacker and Alissa Allen will guide
you through using mushrooms as natural dyes for fibers in the
Friday afternoon workshop.
Lecture topics include Mushrooms for Color, Edible mushrooms, Myco-remediation, Mushroom Toxins and the presentation of common mushrooms which are found in our beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Guided field trips, lectures, cooking, art and identification
workshops will fill the time between soaking in the hot waters of
the natural springs. Treat yourself to an educational, delicious,
and relaxing autumnal event in the midst of the old growth
forests of Oregon.
